The Central Government has reduced the number of subsidised LPG cylinders available annually under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) from nine to four. The decision has been taken after considering the average domestic consumption of beneficiary households. The quota was reduced from 12 to nine last year and has now been further cut to four cylinders annually. The move comes shortly after the government increased the price of domestic LPG cylinders by ₹29.
