Israel has announced plans to install a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a major city to honour the Maratha warrior-king and boost bilateral ties. Unveiled on Shivrajyabhishek Din, the initiative highlights the 17th-century link between the Maratha military and the Bene Israel Jewish community. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis welcomed the historic move.
