    Renowned Urdu poet and celebrated shayar Bashir Badr passed away in Bhopal after battling dementia for a long time. With his demise, the world of Urdu literature and poetry has lost one of its most beloved and influential voices. Known for his emotionally rich couplets and simple yet deeply meaningful style, Bashir Badr’s poetry touched generations of readers and listeners across India and abroad. Born on February 15, 1935, in Ayodhya, Bashir Badr later moved to Bhopal, where he spent much of his life. He completed his higher education at Aligarh Muslim University and later joined the Urdu department at Meerut College as a lecturer. Over the years, he emerged as one of the most respected names in modern Urdu ghazal writing. Bashir Badr was admired for bringing a fresh tone to Urdu poetry by using simple conversational language and romantic expression that resonated with common people. His poetry broke away from rigid traditional styles and introduced a relatable emotional depth that made his shers unforgettable. Many of his lines became iconic and continue to live in the hearts of poetry lovers. His famous couplets such as “Ujale apni yaadon ke hamare saath rehne do” and “Na jaane kis gali mein zindagi ki shaam ho jaaye” remain timeless classics. He was honored with several prestigious literary recognitions, including the Sahitya Akademi Award, for his immense contribution to Urdu literature.
