Transport Cost Crisis: Rising Fuel Prices Force People to Cut Daily Expenses

Petrol and diesel prices in Mumbai have increased again, with petrol becoming costlier by 91 paise and diesel by 94 paise per litre. Fuel prices have now reached around ₹107.67 per litre in the city, making it a “costly Tuesday” for commuters. The hike has led to a visible drop in footfall at petrol pumps, with many people expressing concern over rising expenses and frequent price changes. Across India, fuel rates have increased for the second time in five days, adding further financial pressure on the public. In Delhi, petrol and diesel have also seen similar hikes, pushing monthly travel costs for many households from around ₹6,000 to nearly ₹7,500. Consumers say they are struggling with rising transport costs, as daily commuting becomes more expensive and unavoidable. The continuous increase is being linked to global crude oil price rises due to ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which are affecting supply and pushing inflation higher.
