Consumers have been hit with another inflationary blow as the price of domestic LPG cylinders has been increased by ₹29. In Delhi, the cost of a 14.2 kg household LPG cylinder has risen from ₹913 to ₹942, with the revised rates taking effect from midnight on June 7. This marks the second price hike in the past three months, following a ₹60 increase on March 7, 2026. Officials attribute the rise to disruptions in global energy supplies caused by ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has pushed up international fuel prices. Similar increases have been recorded across major cities, including Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Patna. Over the last 14 months, domestic LPG prices have increased by a total of ₹139. The government had earlier indicated that instability in the Middle East and its impact on gas supply chains could lead to higher prices. The repeated hikes are expected to put additional financial pressure on households already dealing with rising living costs.
