The Central Government has introduced new restrictions on bulk fuel purchases to prevent hoarding and maintain a stable supply of petroleum products. Under the new rules, retail petrol pumps will not be allowed to sell more than 200 litres of diesel to a single customer in a day, and the restrictions will remain in force for the next 90 days. The Petroleum Ministry has also made it mandatory for customers purchasing fuel in containers to use only approved containers, preventing the use of unauthorized cans or drums. Additionally, factories and commercial establishments have been directed to procure diesel through designated commercial fuel outlets rather than regular retail petrol pumps. The move comes amid concerns over stockpiling and aims to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability across the country while preventing panic buying and black marketing.
