Maharashtra moves to grant legal status to women farmers as independent farmers

The Maharashtra government will introduce the Women Farmers Empowerment Bill, 2026 in the upcoming Monsoon Session of the state legislature. The proposed legislation aims to grant legal recognition to women farmers as independent farmers and ensure access to credit, subsidies, technology, markets
