Kota Accident: Retired Teacher Dies After Falling Into Open Drain in Gokul Colony
3 weeks ago
A tragic accident in Kota claimed the life of a retired teacher after he reportedly fell into an open drain while riding a motorcycle in the city’s Gokul Colony area. The incident has once again raised serious questions over civic negligence and the safety of uncovered drainage systems in residential localities. According to local reports, the retired teacher was on his way for personal work when he lost control of his bike near the open drain. The motorcycle reportedly became unbalanced, causing both the rider and the vehicle to fall directly into the deep drain. Due to being trapped beneath the bike inside the water-filled drain, the victim was unable to escape in time and died from drowning before help could reach him. Residents of the area said that similar incidents had occurred earlier as well because the drain remained uncovered despite repeated complaints and safety concerns raised by locals. People living nearby alleged that authorities failed to take preventive action or install protective barriers around the hazardous stretch, even after previous accidents. The incident triggered anger among residents, who blamed civic authorities for negligence and demanded immediate action to cover the drain and improve safety infrastructure in the locality. Locals gathered at the site after the accident and expressed concern over the increasing risks posed by open drains during daily commuting.
