A severe traffic jam and mismanagement have been reported on the route to Kedarnath Dham, where over five lakh devotees have visited in the past 22–23 days. Despite the heavy pilgrimage rush of nearly 20,000–25,000 pilgrims daily, long traffic congestion has brought the Char Dham Yatra route to a standstill, especially near Sonprayag and before Gaurikund. According to ABP News reporter Balram Pandey, vehicles including ambulances have been stuck for hours, with some pilgrims stranded overnight without food or water. Travelers reported minimal police presence and alleged lack of administrative coordination, leading to frustration among devotees and locals alike. Many claimed they were stuck for 12–15 hours in continuous gridlock. The situation has raised serious questions over the preparedness of the Pushkar Singh Dhami government for the Char Dham Yatra management. While authorities have claimed proper arrangements, ground reports suggest significant gaps in traffic control, crowd management, and emergency response, causing widespread inconvenience and distress among pilgrims.
