Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan suffered a significant legal setback after the Supreme Court dismissed her petition challenging the cancellation of her Rajya Sabha nomination. The Court held that the case was not maintainable, relying on Article 329 of the Constitution, which bars judicial intervention in election matters while the electoral process is underway. It clarified that any grievance against the Returning Officer’s decision or election procedure can only be pursued through an election petition after the completion of the election. The ruling came amid protests by Congress leaders and legislators in Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. Reacting to the verdict, Meenakshi Natarajan said the party would carefully examine the judgment before deciding its next legal course but maintained that the fight for justice would continue. Congress leaders alleged unfair treatment in the nomination process and indicated that their political and legal struggle would persist.
