A wave of devotion swept through Haridwar as lakhs of pilgrims gathered on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya to take a holy dip in the sacred waters of the Ganga. From the early hours of the morning, major ghats across the city witnessed an overwhelming influx of devotees seeking blessings, peace, prosperity, and spiritual fulfillment. The highest concentration of pilgrims was seen at Har Ki Pauri, where devotees from different parts of the country participated in traditional rituals and prayers. The occasion, considered highly auspicious in Sanatan Dharma, attracted worshippers in large numbers, creating a vibrant atmosphere of faith and devotion throughout the holy city. The surge in pilgrim arrivals, coupled with the ongoing Char Dham Yatra, significantly increased traffic pressure across Haridwar and surrounding routes. Long queues of vehicles were reported on the Haridwar-Delhi Highway and other key roads leading into the city. Traffic movement slowed considerably in several areas, resulting in congestion and extended travel times for commuters and visitors. Police and administrative authorities remained on high alert, deploying additional personnel to manage crowd movement and regulate traffic flow. Officials worked continuously to ensure the safety of pilgrims and maintain order at major bathing ghats and transportation corridors. Religious leaders highlighted the spiritual significance of Somvati Amavasya, a rare occasion when Amavasya falls on a Monday. Devotees believe that prayers, charity, and ritual bathing performed on this day bring divine blessings and help remove obstacles from life. Despite traffic challenges, the atmosphere in Haridwar remained deeply spiritual, with chants, prayers, and religious ceremonies echoing across the city. The massive turnout once again reflected the enduring faith of devotees and the timeless importance of Haridwar as one of India's most revered pilgrimage destinations.
