A major breakthrough has emerged from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where police have arrested a wanted criminal carrying a reward of ₹50,000 following a late-night encounter. The accused, identified as Gaurav, was allegedly involved in the kidnapping and murder of a man named Omkar and had been evading arrest for an extended period. According to police officials, a vehicle-checking operation was underway near the Nithora Underpass when officers noticed a motorcycle rider approaching at high speed. The suspect was signaled to stop, but instead attempted to flee by abruptly turning his motorcycle. During the escape attempt, the bike reportedly skidded and fell. Police stated that as officers moved closer, the accused allegedly opened fire with the intention of attacking the police team. In response, officers carried out retaliatory firing in self-defense. During the exchange, Gaurav sustained a bullet injury to his leg and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. During preliminary interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to his involvement in the abduction of Omkar. Investigators claim that Gaurav and his associates kidnapped the victim before allegedly murdering him and dumping the body along Meerut Road to conceal the crime. Authorities have confirmed that efforts are now underway to locate and arrest the remaining suspects connected to the case. Additional investigations are being conducted to uncover the full sequence of events and identify any wider criminal network linked to the accused. The encounter and arrest are being viewed as a significant achievement for the Ghaziabad Police in their ongoing crackdown on serious criminal activities in the region.
