    Former Indian diplomat Kanwal Sibal said India is unlikely to immediately step into a mediator role despite Iran welcoming a constructive role from New Delhi. Sibal noted that India maintains strong ties with both Iran and the UAE but differs with Tehran on keeping key maritime routes open.
